Here are some of the great things which we will focus on this year:

Math: Flex Grouping will begin shortly with Topic 1 on Using Positive Rational Numbers

Writing: The writing process, grammar basics, and responding to literature will be highlights of our year. Writer's notebooks as well as computers will be utilized as we explore the structure and style of successful writers.

Reading: The Reader's Workshop model will be utilized as we study various authors and genres in sixth grade. During the first trimester, we will be utilizing our workshop model, conferring, and review strategies of successful, analytical readers. Students will also be reading works from the author Gary Paulsen and sharing in class read alouds such as 'My Side of the Mountain' . As active readers, we will use our comprehension strategies to deepen our understandings.
